The Team
Henry and Jo moved to Jaipur in June 2025 in search of adventure and a vibrant place to build something of their own. They decided to add an extra layer of spice by doing it all while Jo was heavily pregnant, welcoming their daughter, Artemis, in July. To say life is “getting started” would be an understatement!
They are a husband-and-wife team living between Jaipur, the UK, and France. Henry is proudly British, having spent his life in Northumberland, just outside Newcastle. Jo is a 50/50 split between Germany, where she grew up, and France, her mother’s home. She’s a jeweller by trade, but she steers our artistic direction and keeps the wheels turning on just about everything else.
As for the real engines of Doon Threads...
... they’re our partners in India. Our fabric weavers, block printers, tailors, & seamstresses are at the heart of what we do, almost all of whom are “chai-drinking-lifesavers.” They are wonderful, helpful, and (so they claim) always up for another chai and a chin-wag. Honestly, you should come to India and meet them. We genuinely mean that, hit us up if you’re ever in town.
-
Rakesh
Chaitanya's Fixer - If you need something, Rakesh is your man. He knows every inch of the factory!
-
Ramautar
Tailor - Legend. Banters with me while the others (mainly Vishnu) are slacking and an all round great dude.
-
Saroj
Colour Master, a wizard with dyes. He's also about Henry's age and looks 10 years younger (lol).
-
Vishnu
Tailor - Another joker. If you hear a comment or a quick one liner, it's probably from Vishnu (not to be confused with Vishnu The Boss)
-
Maya
Quality Control & Buttons - I've never seen her not smiling and joking with her friends Santosh & Saroj. What a trio!
-
Santosh
Quality Control & Buttons - One third of the giggling trio and a delight to be around!
-
Saroj
Quality Control & Buttons - The final part of the giggling trio, and wow does she make a good sugary (methi) chai!
-
Mukesh
Block Printer — a joker and happy-go-lucky dude.
-
Harimohan Ji
Tailor - patient, kind and skilful. Some people have it all.
-
Prabhakar
Tailor - the good-looking one of the group, much to Vishnu's disdain!
-
Vishnu
Mr. Textile & The Boss - one of the friendliest men in Jaipur, and the busiest. He’s also a bit shy… hence the detail-less pic of us colour-testing!
-
Shivam
Tailor - a genuine wizard in action, the precision in his hands is insane!
-
Kiran
Buttons & QC - Kiran is the d'Artagnan to the giggling trio next door.
-
Suresh
Tailor - I hope the measuring tape around his neck didn't give him away.
-
Bushpender Kumar
Tailor - not looking happy as I was interrupting his lunch, which looked delicious. Chapati with brinjal and tinda sabji. Yum!
-
Kushi
Stitching Manager - Kushi's name (which is actually her nickname) literally means "smile", you can see why.
-
Nisha
Production Manager, and a wonderful poet. Her notebook is stuffed full of beautiful verse. Amazing!
-
Gangaram Master Ji
Master Tailor with the patience of a saint as I videoed him for an hour while he was doing the extremely precise job of cutting a 30-layer fabric pattern!
-
Sanjay
Tailor, Coordinator, Man-About-Town – handsome and skilful, a frightening combo.
-
Salim Master Ji
Master Tailor – his clothes are always as beautiful as his beard.
-
Usman
Tailor – Salim’s son. Given India is cricket mad, he wasn’t aware he shares the same name as the 2025 Ballon d’Or winner!
-
Kumar
Tailor – always smiling, always joking. Always laughing at us!
