How to Look After Your Threads
-
1. Cool & Calm
Wash at 30°C or colder. High heat is the enemy of hand-spun fibres; it can make them brittle or cause them to shrink in ways we didn't plan for. And that would be a serious shame!
-
2. Turning me Inside Out
Especially for our Block-Prints, Screen-Prints and Ikat. This protects the "face" of the fabric from the friction of the machine and keeps the colours vibrant.
-
3. Slow Drying
Hang your clothes to dry in the shade. The sun is great for a tan, but it can bleach out natural dyes if left too long. Plus, the wind does a better job of softening the fibres naturally anyway.
-
4. Easy Ironing
You can iron these fabrics (they love a bit of steam), but don't feel the need to press them into submission. Part of the charm of Khadi and Kala cotton is that slight, natural "rumple." It shows you’re wearing something real.
